Crazy Glove Day DWF Fundraiser

Year 1 wore some crazy and imaginative gloves today for our Crazy Glove Day fundraiser for the Diocesan Works Fund. This was a fun way to help the diocese raise money for their many reach out programs.

Dance Fever

Year 1 have been having a lot of fun at Dance Fever. They have learnt many different dances so far.
Below is a short video showcasing some fantastic dance moves!
We hope to see lots Mums and Dads at the  K-2 Parent Showcase on Wednesday the 24th of June at 2.30-3.00pm in the school playground.

Year 1 are Good Writers!

This week's celebration of writing comes from a student in 1G who wrote a purposeful piece of writing at home on the weekend. She has created a menu for her sister and her friend. Well done Kayla!

All About Me Project

All About Me Project

As part of our Religion unit, “Stories of Jesus”, Year One have been given a project to complete. The project will be completed at home and will be due on Monday Week 10.

The students are to recall significant events in their own life story and can present this information in any way of their choosing. This may include, but is not limited to, a scrapbook, poster, powerpoint presentation or iMovie.

Discuss with your child about significant events that have happened in their life, which could be included in the project. Some examples are listed below.
·     When they were born
·     The birth of a sibling
·     Any special birthdays
·     Their Baptism or a religious event
·     When they started Pre School
·     When they started School
·     Sporting events
·     Special awards

The children will have an opportunity to present their projects in the last week of school.

We are very excited to see the completed projects!

Year 1 are Good Writers

Year 1 have been focusing on writing for a purpose (why are we writing?) and an audience (who are we writing for?). Our audience can be our teachers, our friends, our family, another grade, St Anthony's staff and the wider community. We will be using our blog as one way of sharing our writing to a larger audience.

Below is an example of an informative piece of writing by Sam Boulos. He wrote and published this work after our police visit. He wanted to inform the St Anthony's Community about the role the NSW Police Force plays in our community.

Stay tuned for some more writing from Year 1!
